Review Methodology

TokenizeStartup.com evaluates tokenization platforms, tools, and services using a structured methodology designed to produce fair, evidence-based assessments. This page explains how we conduct reviews, what criteria we use, and what our limitations are.

Evaluation Criteria

Every platform review on TokenizeStartup.com is scored across six criteria, each rated on a scale of 1 to 10:

1. Regulatory Compliance (1-10). We assess the platform’s licensing status, supported jurisdictions, regulatory exemptions used (Reg D, Reg CF, Reg A+, Reg S), SEC or equivalent registration status, and compliance with applicable securities laws such as MiCA in the EU or FINMA guidelines in Switzerland.

2. Ease of Use (1-10). We evaluate the onboarding flow, interface design, documentation quality, and overall user experience from the perspective of both issuers (startup founders) and investors. Where possible, we complete the actual onboarding process.

3. Pricing Transparency (1-10). We document public fee schedules, identify hidden costs, note minimum investment or issuance thresholds, and compare total cost of ownership against alternatives. Pricing is captured with specific dates, as fees change.

4. Secondary Market Access (1-10). We assess whether the platform operates or is connected to an Alternative Trading System (ATS), the availability of trading pairs, liquidity depth where measurable, and the practical ability for token holders to exit positions.

5. Token Standards Supported (1-10). We evaluate which token standards the platform supports (ERC-3643, ERC-1400, ST-20, proprietary standards), the implications for interoperability and portability, and the level of smart contract customization available.

6. Track Record (1-10). We examine the number of completed offerings, total assets under management or total capital raised, notable clients or partnerships, operating history, and any regulatory actions or material disputes.

How We Conduct Reviews

Our review process follows these steps:

Account creation. We create a real account on each platform using the free tier, demo environment, or lowest available access level. We capture dated screenshots of the onboarding flow, main dashboard, pricing page, and any notable interface elements.

Documentation review. We read the platform’s official documentation, terms of service, fee schedules, regulatory disclosures, and any available API documentation. We note the last update dates on key documents.

Feature verification. We verify advertised features against actual functionality where access allows. We note discrepancies between marketing materials and actual capabilities.

Comparative analysis. We compare findings against at least one competing platform to provide context for our ratings. A score of 7 out of 10 means something relative to the current market, not in isolation.

Pricing capture. We record specific pricing figures with the date of capture. Pricing sections of reviews include the date on which fees were last verified.

Limitations and Disclosure

Not all platforms offer open access to their full feature set without a minimum issuance commitment or investment qualification. When hands-on access is restricted, we state that explicitly in the review and note which parts of our evaluation are based on documentation, public information, or third-party reporting rather than direct testing.

We did not receive compensation from any platform reviewed on this site. TokenizeStartup.com does not charge platforms for inclusion in reviews or comparisons. Our Disclosures page documents our policy on commercial relationships.

Review scores reflect conditions at the time of evaluation. The “Last evaluated” date on each review indicates when the assessment was most recently verified. Platforms change their features, pricing, and regulatory status. If you notice information that is no longer accurate, please refer to our Corrections Policy.
